Starting with Ulta Beauty: Makeup & Skincare, the app showed a strong start in downloads with 79K in the last week of December 2020, followed by a dip to 60K in the first week of January 2021. Downloads continued to fluctuate, eventually reaching 58K in mid-March. Weekly active users started at 564K in late December and showed a downward trend until late January, picking up again to peak at 554K in mid-March.
The Sephora US: Makeup & Skincare app experienced a decrease in downloads from 35K in late December to nearly 25K in early February, before seeing an upward trend with 33K downloads by late March. The app's weekly active users showed a similar pattern, with a starting point of 433K in December, dipping to 382K in mid-January, and then gradually increasing to 411K in mid-March.
IPSY: Personalized Beauty had a quieter quarter, with downloads starting at 16K in late December, dipping to 10K in early February, then rising to 15K towards the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, with a decline from 268K to 229K in early February, before rising again to 253K by the end of March.
Flip.shop, a newer entrant to the market, had a notable increase in downloads from 3K in late December to a peak of 18K in early March. Weekly active users for Flip.shop also saw significant growth from 2.6K to 9.6K in the same period, indicating a growing interest in the app.
Lastly, the SALLY BEAUTY app demonstrated consistent performance with downloads hovering around 8K in late December and peaking at 10K in early March. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at 15K in December, dipping slightly in February, and then returning to 15K by late March.
